Is Adsense Ruining Your Business?by Damon G. ZahariadesI'm gonna riff for a bit here. No article. Just some thoughts off the top of my hairy head. Something that bugs the heck out of me. And I want to vent a little. But, first, let me give you some backstory. (continued below...)
Part of my business is building Adsense sites. If you don't know what that means, it means this... You build a site. Get it indexed. Get it ranked. Slap on Adsense. Get visitors to your site. Make moneee. Then, you do that over and over until you have thousands (that's right, I'm not kidding... thousands) of sites. That's PART of my business. Used to be a large part. Then, I got smart. Now, it's a small part. (Whoa, I'm a poet and didn't know it... until now.) Anyway, I spend a lot of time in forums that are filled with people who build Adsense sites. I don't post much. I just sit around and watch the chatter. Sort of like an intelligence agency. Pretty boring really. But, here's what bugs the heck out of me. Most people who build Adsense sites ONLY focus on building Adsense sites. Get what I'm sayin'? It's their ENTIRE business! For a few folks, that's fine. For example, I spoke to one guy mid-last year who had made 7 figures from Adsense. (He had two teams of people doing the work and had hired a couple people to manage the teams.) Here's the point... When you're bringing that much green stuff in, you don't need too many other parts to your business. But, most folks don't make that much. I don't. And I'll bet you don't, either. So, if building Adsense sites is your entire business, you're in trouble. You need to diversify and I'm talking like yesterday. Here's the big problem... You don't CONTROL anything with Adsense. You don't control how much you get paid per click. And these days, you can't even control whether your darn large rectangle ad block shows 2 ads or 4 ads. You need to have greater control over your business. So, how do you do that? How do you get control? How do you stop relying on the Adsense teat and wean yourself off the milk? Well, I don't want this e-mail to get too big. If it does, the filters will trash it. Or you won't read it. For now, think list-building. I'll obviously have more to say on this soon. Enjoy the week! And do something each day to build your business for the long-term! That's it for now. See you next time! Damon G. Zahariades P.S. If you're not building lists, you're missing the boat. You need to get your rump right over to here and learn list-building from the master. It's the best money you'll spend this year.
