Did I Strike A Nerve About Adsense?by Damon G. ZahariadesBoy, did I hit a nerve! A couple days ago, I told you that if you're focusing your business on striking Adsense gold, you need to change directions mucho quicko. Holy smokes, that got some folks pretty lathered up. I got mail from those who agree with me and from those who think I'm an idiot. Let's start with Tom (he doesn't like me much). (continued below...)
"Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. I make a ton of moneee from Adsense and I'm going to quit my job next month to do it full-time. So, get real. And get a life. By the way, don't blame me if you can't make it with Adsense." - Tom D.Z. - First, Tom, put down the wacky tabacky for a second. Let's be logical about this. If you're making huge moneee from Adsense, that's great. But, you don't CONTROL some very important pieces of the pie. At the end of the day, you can't determine how much your traffic is worth. Google determines it. And that ain't a good thing, hombre. If Adsense sites are PART of your overall business plan, that's fine. But, if it's your WHOLE business, you're off yer rocker. And by the way, Tom... I do just fine with Adsense. :-) Moving along, here's one from Sarah... "Hey Damon, I can totally relate. I was doing AWESOME with Adsense in 2005. But, lately, it stinks. My traffic is down, but also my click-thru rate and what I'm being paid when someone clicks is in the toilet. It's like you said, we don't control things and that bugs me, too!" - Sarah D.Z. - Thanks for writing, Sarah. If you're not already doing it, you need to be thinking of how to diversify your business. I've been a big fan of building lists for a long time. When you have a list of folks that like you and trust you, that's absolute gold. It's cashola in the bank. There's so much you can do with a responsive list. You could send your list back to your site to read an article that has Adsense on it, to read your latest review of a hot new product, or just to read your blog where you vent a little. You get to keep the lines of communication open. But, remember... building a BIG list ain't everything. In fact, a big list can hurt more than help sometimes. You want a RESPONSIVE list that you can talk with on a regular basis. That's when it gets fun. That's it for now. See you next time! Damon G. Zahariades P.S. Jimmy is the master of building RESPONSIVE lists. Take a peek at this video It's only about 13 minutes long and I guarantee it'll speak to you. After the video, consider his offer. I don't think there's a better way to invest $10. But, heck... you be the judge. :-) You have permission to use this article on your blog, website or newsletter.
